At Norton Primary School, our aim for Primary Languages is to become Global Citizens. We inspire children to learn about cultures outside of their own and deepen their understanding of the world. Children’s love for learning new languages grows as they see links between their own language and others. Teaching primary languages happens not only in a discrete lesson but also throughout the day, which lays the foundations for further language learning at KS3.
Primary Languages begins by learning the basics of languages, through song and daily date and weather throughout the school.
From KS2, each class have a timetabled French lesson of at least 45 minutes. These lessons, support the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
