We had a great time at Sutton Hoo, exploring the history of this incredibly important burial ground of Anglo-Saxon royalty. In the museum, we watched a film that set the backdrop for the discovery of the massive treasure hoard and then learnt about the items that were found in the burial of what is believed to be King Raedwald of East Anglia. Then we had a burial ground tour to find out about the discovery itself, before climbing the viewing tower to take in the full scale of this impressive site. We finished with an exciting rune trail in the woods. We were complemented on our super behaviour around the site, and the quality of our questions and answers. It was a super day out and sets us up nicely for our Anglo-Saxon study, which starts after half term.
