Science Week - Oh, biscuits!

As part of British Science Week 2026, every class took part in an investigation into which biscuit is the best for dunking in a cup of tea! All pupils took part in conducting the experiment, but each class had a specific focus. Our reception pupils predicted which biscuit would be the best for dunking and gave reasons for their ideas. Year 1 were able to come up with their own questions about what makes a biscuit good for dunking, setting up their own investigations from this. Year 2 focused on taking accurate measurements, using timers and thermometers to be as accurate as possible. Year 3 discussed variables and what they could change or keep the same in order to keep it a fair test. Year 4 presented their data in a graph, using bar charts to illustrate the best biscuit for dunking. Year 5 took repeat readings, recording their results in a table and then calculating an average. Year 6 evaluated the investigation, considering whether it was a fair test and what could be improved or repeated to strengthen the results. During our Friday assembly, each class were able to share their work they had done with their specific focus. It was lovely to see all classes engaged in the same activity.
