Collective Worship

Collective Worship

Norton is a Church of England voluntary controlled primary school where its Christian ethos and values are at the heart of the school.

Each half term we have a different theme for our assemblies but our school vision and six values underpin every act of Collective Worship.

  • Courage
  • Compassion
  • Community
  • Perseverance
  • Respect
  • Wisdom

Worship for All

Norton CEVC Primary School is a Church of England School and as such our worship is based on our Christian values.  However, we understand that not all children at our school come from a Christian background. Therefore, we aim for our worship to be inclusive, invitational and inspirational.

Inclusive: Within our school community we have children from different faith backgrounds and with no faith. Those leading worship are encouraged to use language that does not assume faith. We believe that our school values are relevant to everyone in our community, no matter their beliefs or background.

Invitational: Our collective worship provides an opportunity to participate as well as the freedom to be present and listen and watch respectfully. Children are invited to pray if they wish to do so and to pray in their own way. Prayer is accompanied with an option to reflect.

Inspirational: Within our worship, children are encouraged to ask questions and reflect on their own beliefs and actions. Often children leave the acts of worship with a mission, a way that they can apply what they have heard into their own lives, these are relevant to all members of our community whatever their faith background.

Worship Team

Worship Team consists of 6 year six children whose role is to help plan, deliver and evaluate our collective worship in school. Their role is also to promote our school Christian values.

Harvest Festival 2026

On Monday 28th September , the whole school had the chance to visit Norton Baptist Chappel to celebrate Harvest. The service was led by the Pastor of the Baptist Chapel, Caroline Vallance, and Mr Cole led the children in joyous song. We collected donations for the Moses Basket Project, a local charity that builds baskets for new mothers experiencing hardship. Our community came together and gave generously to this wonderful cause.
