Key Stage 2 Easter Service
The Key Stage 2 children went to St Andrew's church in Norton yesterday for our Easter service. The children shared the Easter Patchwork poem brilliantly and sang out beautifully accompanied by Mrs Cole on his guitar.
It was wonderful to welcome Rev Katherine back from her travels in the Holy Lands.
The children really enjoyed the STEM Festival at Thurston Community College last week. The children took part in a number of science activities which allowed them to predict and explain experiments. Here are a few photos from the trip.
As part of our Romans topic, we travelled to Colchester Castle to explore ancient Roman times.
Year 6 visited the incredible Wellcome Genome Campus, a world-leading Genomics facility in Hinxton near Saffron Walden. Scientists here are undertaking ground-breaking research in DNA base classification and the diagnosis and treatment of genetic conditions. The children learnt about DNA sequencing and created coloured bead bracelets which matched the DNA base pairs for different organisms. Then they had a chance to meet and interview scientists involved with projects as diverse as hoverfly research and gut bacteria. It was a great trip and a chance to experience a real scientific research centre.
