Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Wednesday Year 1 had a great day in Felixstowe. We went for a walk near Landguard Fort to view Felixstowe Port. We were able to identify some human and physical features. We then went to the beach in Felixstowe where we enjoyed some time on the beach and were able to identify some more human and physical features. After lunch we went to the pier and enjoyed an ice cream.
On Tuesday 27 June Star Class went on their first school trip to Lackford Lakes. The trip was planned as part of their Minibeast Topic and Lackford Lakes was the perfect place to explore for minibeasts under stones, on leaves and under wood. The children had a wonderful day doing many exciting activities.
Our Year 6 pupils had a great afternoon at the Crucial Crew, taking part in a range of workshops designed to help us be safe in a range of scenarios and maintain a healthy, positive and engaged approach to everything from environmental issues to our mental health. For many, the highlight was being rescued from a ‘burning’ building by the fire service!
We were, as always, complimented by staff on our great behaviour and participation…
On Friday 23 June, Meteor Class had an amazing day at Thorpe Woodlands. The children all had the opportunity to be Bold Adverturers as they were challenged to try new sporitng activities, go on the high ropes and work together as a team. All of the children showed real courage and perseverance and pushed themselves to achieve things they never thought they would!
The sun was shining, the glow sticks were dazzling and Norton School danced the day away. Friday 16 March was such a special day and there was a real sense of joy and purpose to the day as the school raised money for the following charities: Cancer Research, Young Lives V Cancer and Cyclist for Cancer. These charities were selected by Georgia and Evie as they have provided supported and advice during their treatment. Thank you everyone for supporting us, for getting sponsors and coming along at the end of the day to join in with the dancing. It was lovely to see Evie join us at the end of the day to dance with her friends and we received a special picture of Georgia ringing the bell after her last chemotherapy session. We raised £4,700 and it was just Norton's way of saying thank you to these charities for helping our school community.
Each half term we plan for the children to experience a sporting activity which they have never tried before. This half term the sport was karate. All the children enjoyed their enrichment session with our instructors from Verve Martial Arts!
